Righteousness, properity, and good success: 11

Psalm 1:1-3    Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

When we choose to meditate on a scripture, or a word, that is given to us by the Spirit of God, we deliberately plant ourselves by a river of water and we grow strong as a tree and are not easily moved away from that water by which we have grown.

As we think on that scripture many days, doing that scripture (or word given us by God), we dig a deep foundation on which we build our life as we live on this present earth.

When we allow ourselves to be continually watered by THAT WORD that is given us by God, we will not become withered for we are watered continually by that river of the Word where we have deliberately planted ourselves, the Bible, a dream from God, a word from God.

* and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

As we go forward, this should be our goal.

II Peter 3:14    be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Diligence is keeping watch over those things which we hear other people say that are contrary to the word of God.   For those things can go into our heart and bring wrong fruit unless we uproot them by the word of God.

Learn to listen to the words you speak for those word show you that which you have stored in your heart. If you hear yourself say a concept contrary to Bible, you will know then that you have fallen asleep and taken some evil thing into your heart. You can uproot that evil concept by repentance, prayer, and by focusing on the word (or scripture) God brings to your mind about the subject after you pray.

Matthew 12:33-37 Jesus said: Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

By such things as TV programs, we can allow evil into our hearts. We must beware of such.

For exampleIf you are watching a show about a man winning a lottery ticket, a lust for money could come into your own heart.  If you feel that happening, you can stop it by prayer.  Begin immediately to pray, asking God to help you.

Also if we commit ourselves to wanting our "riches" to come only from God, we do as we saw Abraham do in Genesis 14.  The king of Sodom offered Abraham riches and Abraham refused for he declared that he wanted his wealth to come only from God.  When that Bible concept is kept in our heart, we store up good treasure.

People often say things contrary to Bible.  When we hear that, to reinforce ourselves, STOP and review the doctrine of the Bible.

Recently in a movie, I heard a man tell his daughter that land is all that matters in this life for land will last forever.

That is not true.

I stopped watching the movie and dealt with what this man had said, comparing what he said to that which the Bible says on the issue.

I reviewed II Peter 3:10 ... But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

The world focuses on those things they can see, like land and property.

But we know all these things we can see with our natural eye will be destroyed when God brings HIS wrath upon this world.

Therefore we keep our focus on scripture instead of those things we see physically.

We can make the tree good ... by guarding that which goes into our heart.

We uproot evil that is in our heart by prayer and by replacing the evil with the word of God.  And we can stop taking in sayings of this world by immediately replacing those sayings with scripture which is truth.

We fight the good fight of faith ... continually holding onto those things God has taught us, doing them, laying hold onto eternal life to which we are called.

It is a fight to keep evil "treasure" out of our heart.  It takes awareness and diligence.  Be sober.  Stay awake to what is coming into your heart.  Deal with evil in a spiritual way when you hear evil come out of your heart.  Make the tree good and its fruit good.

Listen to those words you speak to others.

Proverbs 4:23-27

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
